Navitar Establishes New Division: Navitar Mobility

Navitar Mobility Division Formed, Dedicated to Autonomy and AI Based Computer Vision Imaging Modules

Rochester, New York – Wednesday, February 27, 2019 – Navitar, Inc., a global leader in vision technology, announced today the formation of Navitar Mobility, a new business unit focused solely on autonomy and AI based computer vision imaging modules and emerging applications in mobile computer vision.

“While Navitar currently supplies full imaging modules for the autonomous vehicle industry; the global trend towards AI mobile vision applications warrants a separate, dedicated business division,” comments Jeremy Goldstein, co-CEO and President of Navitar, Inc. “Our strategic acquisitions of Hyperion Development (optical engineering, 2016) and Pixelink (cameras, 2017), as well as our infrastructure investment in large format sensor integration, positions the company as a technology leader for this space.

Michael Thomas has been appointed President of Navitar Mobility. Thomas remarks, “This is an exciting opportunity for our team to exclusively focus on rapid development and OEM projects and apply our machine vision expertise to emerging applications in AI including self-driving cars, robots, drones and the connected soldier. Navitar Mobility customers can expect unparalleled expertise and service for rapid deployment of mobile imaging solutions.”

The Navitar Mobility world-class technical team, highly experienced in optical design, stray light management, athermal module design, and sensor integration, includes Russ Hudyma, Navitar CTO, Ian Wallhead Ph. D, and Arash Ghorbani. Navitar’s Pixelink camera division, led by Lisanne Glavin, will provide next generation sensors and high-speed interfaces, such as 10GigE, to meet the camera requirements for automotive and robotics applications.
