Harris Beach Represents Greatbatch Ltd. in Successful Patent Infringement Lawsuit

New York Photonics member and supporter, Harris Beach has achieved a successful jury verdict for Greatbatch Ltd. following a two-week trial in which Greatbatch claimed patent infringement by AVX Corporation cost Greatbatch $37.5 million in lost sales, price erosion, and other value. The trial was held January 11 – 25, 2016 in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. The jury awarded Greatbatch the $37.5 million in damages it was seeking.

“We are pleased with the jury’s decision as it supports the argument we have made since we filed our complaint in April 2013,” said James R. Muldoon, Harris Beach partner and member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. Also representing Greatbatch were Harris Beach partners Neal L. Slifkin and Laura W. Smalley, Harris Beach senior counsel Brian J. Gerling, and Harris Beach associates Steven P. Nonkes and Brendan M. Palfreyman.  Slifkin is a director of the Rochester Regional Photonics Cluster Board.

The New York Photonics March Networking event will be held at Harris Beach.  The discussion will be about how to write and effective non-disclosure agreement.
