MCC Career Exploration Night

Dear Industry Partner,

As you know, it is becoming increasingly more difficult to find qualified, trained people. Monroe Community College offers training for many of these necessary skills, but we need your help to demonstrate what exciting careers exist regionally in Advanced Manufacturing, Electronics, Optics, Precision Machining, Engineering, and Computer Information Technology.

On Thursday, April 25, 2013 we are hosting our fifth annual High-Tech Career Exploration Night and we hope it will be the best yet. Our objective for exploration night is to expose high school juniors and seniors, along with their parents, high school educators and counselors, and undeclared MCC students, to the excellent technical careers that are available in the Finger Lakes Region. Last year over 200 students and parents attend this event. With your help, attendees can talk to people who are currently doing these jobs, see the interesting things they create and produce. You can explain career paths within your organization and the responsibilities required. You can talk about the education that would be necessary to obtain these jobs and the potential compensation that goes with them.

Our goal is to have 35 companies/organizations representing various technical fields. This is NOT a job fair, but a career exploration night designed to interest students – your future employees – in your industry.

Evening agenda:

  • 4:00 – 6:00 pm               Company representatives set up tables
  • 6:30 pm                            Doors open to the public
  • 7:00 – 7:20pm                Short presentation of evening events and MCC programs
  •  7:20 – 9:00 pm               Talk with company representatives

The High-Tech Exploration Night will be held in Monroe Community College’s R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center, rooms Monroe A and B. One 5-foot table and a sign will be provided for each company or organization. We would like the companies attending to bring exciting demonstrations/presentations or examples of the work your company produces, because “Eye Candy” will attract attendees to your table.

We will be handing out a program with some basic information about each company (products/service, number of employees, location of headquarters, significant branch offices, types of jobs hired).

If you are interested in attending, please register online at: www.monroecc.edu/go/hightechexhibitor.

Once again, we thank you for taking time to promote your industry and exposing some of the exciting high-tech career that are available.
