On A Roll: Cuomo Announces Computer Chip Fab, Thousands of Jobs in Utica, New York

Utica, New York, will be getting a computer chip manufacturing plant and a power electronics research facility that will invest billions of dollars in the city and create almost 1,500 new jobs.

The Austrian computer manufacturer ams AG will initially invest $2 billion in a new manufacturing plant in Utica that will create 1,000 jobs. Separately, GE Global Research and the SUNY Polytechnic Institute will develop a power electronics facility in Utica creating another 1,470 jobs, 470 of which will be for GE.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the news today at the SUNY Polytechnic Institute campus in Utica. The announcement was part of day-long events and meetings in Utica to highlight the city’s high-tech growth.
