Sydor Optics Receives ISO 9001:2008 Certification

Sydor Optics announced today it has received certification to the ISO 9001:2008 quality management standards. This achievement affords Sydor’s U.S. and international customers a globally recognized standard of quality assurance.Sydor-jpg

Sydor Optics has operated in general compliance with the ISO 9000 standards since 2004. Sydor provides custom flat optics such as glass wafers, mirrors, plate beamsplitters and windows for defense, entertainment, medical and semiconductor applications. This certification should save Sydor’s customers’ time during the qualification and audit stages of the procurement process.

The company worked with Alliance for Manufacturing and Technology (http://amt-mep.org/) of Binghamton, NY to perform the baseline audit in September 2012 which assessed for gaps between Sydor’s previous quality management system and the ISO requirements. In November of 2012 Sydor began working with AM&T to make the revisions to the quality management system to bring it into full compliance with the ISO standards. The final audit was concluded in June 2013 by NSF.

Sydor Optics has continually made investments into metrology equipment to add capabilities and improve quality assurance. Their 2011 expansion included significant investments in metrology and automation. In 2012 the implementation of an ERP system further strengthened Sydor’s ability to monitor and control its optical manufacturing processes.

“ISO 9001:2008 certification was a natural next step, and one that our customers value,” said Jim Sydor, CEO and owner. “Our customers know that their programs are handled according to optimal quality standards.”

Sydor Optics is also ITAR registered.

Tom: What a nice surprise! I received the “Sizzlin’ Summer” tee shirt. Thanks so much.I shall wear it proudly.  A couple of weeks ago, I had a visit here and lunch locally with two ladies from the University of Rochester. Could have worn it then, but next week a gal from Tau Beta Pi is coming from Minneapolis to visit and we’ll have dinner nearby. I certainly shall show it to her.

This is a wonderful thing you guys (and gals) are doing. Thanks again.

Best regards to all. marty d. Lookin’ forward to Photonics West 2014…………….
