For more than 20 years, New York Photonics (NYP) has united business, academia, professional organizations, and government to strengthen New York State’s Optics, Photonics, Imaging, and Laser (OPIL) industry. Recognized as the nation’s largest and most influential OPIL cluster, NYP members drive innovation in every aspect of the industry while creating jobs, educating our future workforce, supporting economic growth, and strengthening communities across New York State.
In 2025, our longtime Executive Director, Tom Battley, announced his retirement. The Board embarked on a leadership transition plan and is excited to announce the appointment of Alexis Vogt, PhD, as Executive Director and Josanne DeNatale as Program Manager. Together, they bring the expertise and an outstanding commitment to collaboration that will lead the Cluster into its next chapter of growth. Please join us in welcoming Alexis and Josanne.
Along with the transition in leadership, we are looking forward to serving up a year’s worth of networking opportunities, special events, business-building news, and advocacy activities. Plus, a new committee structure of the board will give all members more ways to be involved in expanding our impact and growing our industry. You’ll find more details here.
On behalf of the board of directors, thanks to all who are part of our growing membership base. We look forward to an exciting year ahead.
John Hart, Chair, New York Photonics Board of Directors
