Dane’s experience is mostly based in the field of optical technology including various business management and technical roles in the design, development and manufacture of electro-optical systems. In his career, he has held positions with Hughes Aircraft, Bausch & Lomb, Compaq Computers, Corning Inc. and prior to Vectronix was the Chairman, CEO, President and co-owner of Optics 1, Inc.
At Optics 1, Dane was responsible for transforming a small engineering company into a commercial and defense manufacturing contractor, created and implemented new vision and strategies, introduced basics including financial budgets, forecasting, engineering and program management, product and technical roadmaps, an HR handbook and facility & capital upgrades. Revenue increased over 10x and Optics 1 and was sold to a Swiss Company posting $80m in revenue and a 40% group EBIT.
Most recently Dane was the President of Rochester Precision Optics, a privately held optical manufacturing and assembly company. Previously, as the President and CEO of Vectronix Inc., a SAFRAN company, he held responsibilities for the day-to-day operations of facilities in California, Virginia and New Hampshire, as well as participating on the board for its wholly owned subsidiary Optics 1, Inc.
Dane earned undergraduate technical degrees in physics and optical engineering from Mansfield University and the University of Rochester. In addition, Dane earned an MBA from the University of Rochester’s William E. Simon Graduate School of Business.
